OpenAI launches ChatGPT for Teens with parental controls and safety features

On August 18, OpenAI launched a version of ChatGPT specifically designed for teenagers aged 13 to 17, called ChatGPT for Teens. The platform introduces stronger protections including restrictions on content related to self-harm, suicide, and sexual content, as well as features such as parental controls, quiet hours, a study mode, and notifications for situations requiring real-world interventions. Many of these safeguards were already present in accounts for minors. OpenAI stated it will automatically place users its system determines to be under 17 into this version.
