Democratic Rep. Jimmy Gomez Accused of Sexual Assault

A woman has accused California Democratic Representative Jimmy Gomez of sexually assaulting her, contradicting his previous claim that his actions were 'consensual' and 'personal mistakes outside his marriage.' The allegation comes two days after the House Ethics Committee announced a probe into Gomez for reports of sexual misconduct, initially triggered by a New York Post report that accused Gomez of kissing a young female congressional aide in 2023. The woman's attorneys stated that Gomez's actions were not consensual with respect to their client and expressed confidence the Ethics Committee will reach the same conclusion. Gomez was close personal friends with disgraced former California Representative Eric Swalwell, who resigned in April amidst multiple sexual assault allegations. Gomez has yet to comment on the heightened accusations. The case adds him to a growing, bipartisan list of sitting congressmen accused or investigated for sexual misconduct in the last two years.
