TechOpenAI announced that ChatGPT Ads will expand to 31 European countries next week, including Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Austria. Advertisers can initially access the platform through the OpenAI Ads Solutions team, agency partners, and technology partners, with self-service via Ads Manager coming later this summer. Ads will only appear for users on Free and Go plans, while Plus, Pro, and Enterprise subscriptions remain ad-free. The expansion aims to help marketers reach users during decision-making processes such as travel planning, software selection, or home furnishing. OpenAI emphasized that ads are clearly labeled, separate from ChatGPT answers, and do not influence responses. The company also highlighted platform developments including conversion optimization, geo-targeting, custom audiences, and expanded measurement tools. This marks the largest expansion since the initial US pilot in February, with tens of thousands of marketers now advertising on ChatGPT.
