PoliticsThe U.S. Department of State has approved a potential $4.5 billion Foreign Military Sale to Qatar for up to four KC-46A Pegasus aerial refueling aircraft and associated equipment. The sale includes eight PW4062 turbofan engines, radar warning receivers, laser transmitter assemblies, and system processors, along with training and logistical support. Principal contractors are Boeing, Pratt & Whitney, RTX Corporation, and Northrop Grumman. The State Department stated the sale will enhance Qatar's defense capabilities and interoperability with U.S. and allied forces, reinforcing Qatar's strategic role in regional security. No additional U.S. government representatives will be required in Qatar. The announcement comes amid ongoing questions about security features of a Qatari-donated Air Force One aircraft.
