New wave of US freight and manufacturing layoffs cuts over 7,000 jobs

A new wave of layoffs and facility closures across U.S. freight, distribution, and manufacturing networks has affected more than 7,000 workers. The largest reduction comes from Tyson Foods, eliminating over 3,000 jobs due to a historic cattle shortage, closing facilities in Illinois and Utah. Wholesale distributor Essendant warned of cuts affecting over 1,200 employees across six states as it seeks capital or a buyer.
