SportsAccording to Reuters, UEFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), and CONCACAF are discussing a potential vote of no confidence against FIFA President Gianni Infantino to oust him. The crisis stems from Infantino's plan to sell minority stakes in a company holding World Cup commercial rights to private investors, which sparked strong dissatisfaction and a governance crisis. A senior source stated there is 'no way back,' and Infantino must either leave peacefully or face a no-confidence vote. FIFA's statutes do not provide for such a procedure, but an extraordinary congress can be convened if one-fifth of member associations request it. UEFA and CONCACAF declined to confirm the vote but called for a 'thorough and fundamental' review. However, the move carries risks; if the vote fails, it could boost Infantino's re-election momentum for March 2027. Infantino still plans to seek re-election, with support from CAF and six Arab associations. The European Club Association (ECA) aligns with UEFA, warning it may refuse to participate in future Club World Cups. No public challenger has emerged yet, and the nomination deadline is November 18.
