TechComcast announced the expansion of its Xfinity home security offerings with a new platform called Xfinity Shield, available to Xfinity Internet customers at no extra cost or with a $15/month premium option that includes hardware and monitoring. The platform combines Wi-Fi-based protection, cybersecurity, and family controls within the Xfinity app, leveraging AI and the Xfinity Gateway to detect movement and block threats. Comcast reports the average customer connects 36 devices, and its network blocks 30 million threats daily. The move aims to increase customer retention in a competitive broadband market by lowering the barrier to entry for comprehensive home security.
