SportsThousands of PAOK Thessaloniki fans occupied Toumba Stadium and the club's offices in protest of the sale of star attacking midfielder Giannis Konstantelias to Borussia Dortmund. The transfer, completed on August 17, 2026, could be worth over €30 million, making it the second-most valuable deal in Greek football history. The protests escalated after a similar sale to Stuttgart collapsed in July 2025 due to fan backlash. Ultra group Gate 4 demanded Konstantelias remain at the club, calling him the greatest player since Giorgos Koudas. The dispute threatens to intensify an ongoing ownership squabble involving PAOK's Russian-born billionaire owner Ivan Savvidis, who previously faced legal issues for brandishing a gun on the pitch in 2018. Konstantelias, a 23-year-old Greek Player of the Year and academy product, told fans via video call that the move was his decision and he still loves the club.
