Hacker Cyberleek leaks full GTA VI map and gameplay clips to protest digital-only pre-orders

Hacker Leaks Gameplay and Map in Response to No Physical Release

GTA VI is one of the most highly anticipated games in history, but Rockstar's decision to forgo a physical release has sparked significant backlash among fans. Now, a talented hacker has allegedly obtained gameplay footage and the full game map, leaking them as a form of protest.

According to gaming creator NikTek on X, a leaker known as Cyberleak released two clips and the entire map of Leonida in response to the publisher's decision to sell pre-order digital copies of the game. Cyberleak stated they will continue releasing leaks until Rockstar issues a public apology and commits to doing better.

The Leaker's Manifesto

On their website, Cyberleak outlined their grievances:

"No consumer shall pay for a game through digital storefronts before release and independent review. Physical preorders for tangible media remain permitted. Preorders were not created for gamers. They were created because physical discs had manufacturing limits. In digital distribution, there is no inventory. There is no stock shortage. A digital copy cannot sell out. Yet publishers kept the preorder system and stripped away its only consumer benefit. Now gamers pay early and receive nothing in return except a countdown timer and a cosmetic skin."

"If publishers want revenue before launch, they can press discs. Print boxes. Put them on shelves. Earn that money through physical production."

Cyberleak's manifesto also includes two additional demands:

• Publishers should not sell "fake" single-player DLCs that unlock content already included in the base game.
• Any title featuring single-player content must always remain available, even when server support ends.

These issues resonate with many gamers, particularly as companies increasingly prioritize digital games and subscriptions over physical media and one-time purchases. A notable example is Sony's decision to cut physical media, which has angered players who argue they no longer truly own the games they buy. Rockstar appears to be following this trend — while GTA VI can still be purchased physically from retailers, those copies contain only a download code, not a physical game disc.

Leaked Gameplay Details

NikTek reported in another X post that the leaked clips revealed various gameplay features, including:

• Basketball games
• Vehicle loadouts
• Openable and closable trunks
• A stamina bar
• An honor system similar to Red Dead Redemption 2

The map leak also showed details of the five counties, along with a massive rail system and numerous tiny islands for players to explore.

Another creator noted that these leaked details are already over a year old. However, Rockstar has been actively issuing DMCA takedowns against posts displaying this content, suggesting the clips are authentic. The base gameplay is likely already complete, with developers spending recent months finalizing the game ahead of its November launch.
