Barcelona, having already finalized deals for Rodrigo and Cancelo, is making a final push for Alvarez but has set a 2-3 day deadline. If no breakthrough occurs, the club will activate alternative forward plans. Alvarez himself reportedly still wants to join Barcelona and may take further action to facilitate the move. Atletico coach Simeone did not include Alvarez in the squad for Wednesday's match against Malaga. Barcelona's La Liga season starts this weekend against Elche. The transfer window closes September 1, but Barcelona does not want to prolong negotiations.
