TechUnitree Robotics unveiled a humanoid robot named Superman on Monday, claiming a top speed of 12.66 meters per second, surpassing Usain Bolt's peak speed of 12.42 m/s during his 2009 world record run. The announcement comes days before Unitree's IPO begins trading on Shanghai's STAR Market. The IPO was priced at 150.8 yuan per share, raising approximately 6.1 billion yuan ($905 million), valuing the company near $9 billion. Retail demand set a STAR Market record, with buyers covering their tranche 8,288 times over. Unitree's 2025 sales reached 1.7 billion yuan, more than quadruple the 2024 figure, with net profit of 591 million yuan. The Superman robot can perform a 2-meter standing high jump and was built in just over three months. IPO proceeds will fund embodied artificial intelligence, new robot bodies, and factory capacity. No independent verification of the speed claim has been released.
