FinanceRolls-Royce and Reliance Industries announced a strategic partnership on 14 August 2026 to jointly design, develop, and manufacture an indigenous combat engine for India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme. The collaboration aims to establish a dedicated Aerospace Gas Turbine Complex in India, covering the full lifecycle of advanced aero engines from design to through-life support. The announcement represents a strategic intent rather than a contract award, with both companies planning to offer their capabilities for the programme. Anant Ambani of Reliance emphasized the goal of building sovereign capability in critical technologies, while Rolls-Royce CEO Tufan Erginbilgiç highlighted the milestone towards a self-reliant aerospace ecosystem in India. The AMCA is a next-generation combat aircraft for the Indian Air Force, and the propulsion system is a key technology requirement.
