ScienceDayOne Data Centers, in collaboration with Cortical Labs and the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS Medicine), has launched Singapore's first Biological Data Center Prototype. The prototype uses a 20-unit CL1 biological computing system, which employs living neurons grown from stem cells connected to silicon hardware to process information with significantly lower power intensity than traditional silicon-based infrastructure. The initiative aims to explore neuro-inspired AI, biomedical modeling, drug discovery, and neurological disease research. The launch was attended by public sector, academic, and industry representatives, and marks a step toward commercializing biological computing as a sustainable alternative for scaling AI capacity in Singapore and the broader region.
