PoliticsA German government aircraft, a Bombardier Global 5000 from the Bundeswehr's flight readiness unit, has been stranded on the island of Mahé in the Seychelles for several days due to a technical problem. The plane made an unscheduled stopover during a training flight from Egypt to the French island of Réunion. The Ministry of Defense confirmed that only the crew was on board and that they are doing well. The incident gained public attention after AfD politician Malte Kaufmann, who was on vacation in the Seychelles, posted a photo of the parked jet on social media, initially suspecting an unannounced government trip. The Defense Ministry clarified that such training flights are necessary for crew training, including operations in special climatic conditions near the equator. Work is ongoing to fix the technical issue.
