FinanceStripe has reportedly finalized a deal to acquire OpenRouter, an AI gateway startup, for over $7 billion, according to Bloomberg. OpenRouter helps customers select different AI models based on their needs and budget, and was described by its CEO as the 'Stripe for AI.' The startup had raised a $113 million Series B in May 2026 at a $1.3 billion valuation, with investors including Sequoia, Andreessen Horowitz, Menlo Ventures, and Alphabet's Capital G. It claims 8 million global users and access to over 400 models. The Wall Street Journal had previously reported acquisition talks in July 2026. A Stripe spokesperson declined to comment on the rumors.
