TechGerman defense company Rheinmetall has successfully demonstrated its new FV-014 loitering munition launched from a containerized launcher mounted on a moving HX-series truck. The test occurred in July at the German Aerospace Center in Cochstedt, Saxony-Anhalt. The FV-014 has a range of up to 100 kilometers and a 70-minute endurance, carrying a 13-pound HEDP warhead capable of penetrating 24 inches of armor steel. The weapon is designed for human-in-the-loop control, allowing operators to identify, track, and authorize attacks or abort engagements. The Containerized Missile Launcher, based on a 20-foot ISO container, can hold up to 18 FV-014s. Rheinmetall pitches the system for both individual precision strikes and coordinated swarm operations, with network connectivity and a high degree of autonomy to operate in GNSS-denied environments.
