OtherThe U.S. Army identified two soldiers who died when their AH-64 Apache helicopter crashed near Salado, Texas, on August 12, 2026. Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T. Huey, 34, and Warrant Officer Seth L. Olmstead, 25, were killed in the crash at approximately 1:40 p.m. CST. Huey joined the Army in 2014 as a motor transport operator and was from Killeen, Texas. Olmstead joined in 2023 as a warrant officer candidate and was from Belton, Texas. Lt. Gen. Kevin D. Admiral, commanding general of III Armored Corps and Fort Hood, expressed condolences. The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center at Fort Rucker, Alabama, is leading an investigation into the cause of the crash.
