FinanceA consortium including Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has agreed to buy a minority stake of roughly one-third in Liverpool FC from Fenway Sports Group, valuing the Premier League club at about $7.1 billion. The investment group, managed by businessman Amit Bhatia under the entity 1892 Holdings, has an option to become the majority shareholder within the next 12 months at a valuation around $8 billion. Bezos is the lead investor in K5 Global, which contributed over $1 billion to the deal. Bhatia will serve as Liverpool's new vice chairman and join the expanded board, while Bezos will not have a board seat. Other investors include K5 Sports and EE Capital, the family office of Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin. The deal marks Bezos' first investment in a sports property.
