Olmstead, 25, as the two soldiers killed when their Apache helicopter crashed near Salado, Texas, on August 12, 2026, at approximately 1:40 p.m. CST. Huey, from Killeen, Texas, joined the Army in 2014 as a motor transport operator. Olmstead, from Belton, Texas, joined in 2023 as a warrant officer candidate. Lt. Gen. Kevin D. Admiral, commanding general of III Armored Corps and Fort Hood, expressed condolences. The U.S. Army Combat Readiness Center in Fort Rucker, Alabama, is leading an investigation into the crash.
