TechLockheed Martin has successfully conducted the first integrated live-fire test of its Kodiak containerized launcher at the Yakima Training Centre in Washington. The test, which used a Reduced-Range Practice Rocket (RRPR), occurred less than six months after initial trials. The RRPR is the standard training rocket for HIMARS and M270A2 crews. The Kodiak launcher is designed for versatility across air, land, and sea platforms, and can hold up to 12 GMLRS rockets per container, allowing adjustable firepower without increasing launcher size. The demonstration follows a series of successful tests of similar containerized launcher technologies, previously referred to as 'GRIZZLY' tests. Lockheed Martin stated the effort reflects work to provide adaptable, cost-efficient launching systems for offensive and defensive capabilities. Randy Crites, Lockheed Martin advanced programs vice president, highlighted the speed and agility demonstrated by achieving a live-fire launch in under six months.
