FinanceWendy's shares jumped sharply on August 12, 2026, following a Financial Times report that Nelson Peltz's Trian Fund Management is assembling an investor consortium to potentially bid for the Ohio-based burger chain. Trian, which held about 16% of Wendy's shares earlier this year, had previously disclosed in February that it was exploring strategic options, including taking control of the company and taking it private. Wendy's has been struggling with restaurant traffic recently. A Wendy's spokeswoman stated the company would review any proposal submitted by Trian consistent with its fiduciary duties, and noted that new CEO Bob Wright is moving urgently to improve performance and turn around the business.
