SportsTeenage Australian center back Lucas Herrington has completed a historic transfer from the Colorado Rapids to Hull City for a fee up to $23 million, a club record for Colorado and one of the most expensive in MLS history. Herrington, who turns 19 in September, made his senior debut at 17 for Brisbane Roar before joining the Rapids in January 2026. He quickly became a starter, earned a senior national team call-up, and played at the 2026 World Cup. Hull City, preparing for a Premier League return, made the aggressive bid. Colorado had previously bought out Brisbane Roar's 20% sell-on clause for under $400,000, a move that drew backlash. The Rapids rejected an earlier $7 million bid from Barcelona. Rapids president Pádraig Smith praised Herrington's talent and mentality, calling the deal a milestone for both the club and MLS.
