FinanceKroger has appointed Nate Faust, a former Walmart and Jet.com executive, as its new chief e-commerce officer, effective September 1. The move, announced by new CEO Greg Foran, signals a major push to transform the grocery chain's digital commerce business. Faust brings over 20 years of experience in e-commerce, having co-founded Jet.com, served as senior vice president of U.S. e-commerce supply chain at Walmart, and founded the online shopping site Olive. Experts suggest Faust will focus on leveraging partnerships with AI logistics platform Nash to replace third-party delivery services, integrating autonomous vehicle technology from Autolane, and restructuring Kroger's retail media business to subsidize delivery costs. He may also improve the strategic relationship with Ocado and test in-store robotics for order fulfillment. The appointment is seen as a move to raise talent standards and capitalize on Kroger's massive e-commerce opportunity.
