OtherDaniel Kinahan, the alleged head of the Kinahan Cartel and one of Europe's most wanted drug traffickers, has been extradited from Dubai to Ireland. He landed in Dublin on Sunday after a decade-long exile following an assassination attempt at the Regency Hotel in 2016. The 49-year-old was immediately taken to court to face charges of directing organised crime between 2015 and 2017, which he denies. He is now held in high-security Portlaoise Prison. The extradition followed a 2024 treaty between Ireland and the UAE, after US sanctions and a $5 million reward were placed on him in 2022. If convicted, he faces 20 to 30 years in prison. His trial date has not been set.
