FinanceGreenland Energy Company and its joint venture partner 80 Mile have delayed planned oil drilling in Greenland's Jameson Land Basin until winter 2027. The delay follows a formal warning from Greenlandic authorities after White Flame Energy, 80 Mile's subsidiary, moved drilling equipment ashore near the Nerlerit Inaat airport without the required permit. The companies acknowledged the warning and said they would work closely with authorities going forward. Greenland Energy has ties to figures associated with President Donald Trump, including board member Carol Craig and a documentary deal with Dr. Phil McGraw. The exploration licenses were granted before Greenland stopped issuing new licenses in 2021 due to climate concerns.
