TechLockheed Martin has successfully conducted the first live-fire test of its new Kodiak containerized launcher, firing a Reduced-Range Practice Rocket to demonstrate offensive fire capabilities. The test achieved all planned mission requirements on the first attempt. Each Kodiak container can hold up to 12 GMLRS rockets and is designed for deployment from air, land, or sea platforms. The system follows the GRIZZLY containerized launcher, which Lockheed Martin developed for defensive fires and which intercepted a Group 3 drone in June 2026. The company states that containerizing both offensive and defensive fires provides the Department of War with cheaper, harder-to-detect deployment options that can be transported as ordinary cargo.
