FinanceFord Motor Company announced on August 12, 2026, that it will increase production of its Lincoln vehicles in the United States starting in 2030, while phasing out imports of the vehicles from China for the US market. The Detroit automaker expects the move to generate thousands of direct and indirect US jobs. Ford had previously announced in 2023 that its next-generation Lincoln Nautilus would be imported from China, marking the first time the brand brought a vehicle from China to the US. The Lincoln Navigator and Aviator models are currently assembled in Louisville, Kentucky, and Chicago, respectively, and will continue to be exported to Canada, Mexico, and the Middle East. CEO Jim Farley framed the decision as a bet on American manufacturing, noting it is a path most competitors are not taking. The announcement comes amid President Donald Trump's automotive tariffs and uncertainty surrounding the USMCA North American trade deal. Ford reported assembling over 2 million vehicles in the US last year, more than any other automaker.
