PoliticsPresident Donald Trump dozed off during a White House ceremony for an executive order changing the childhood vaccine schedule. Before falling asleep, Trump made unsubstantiated claims about vaccines being the size of a soda bottle poured into a child's body. He was flanked by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., NIH Director Jay Bhattacharya, and other officials. While Bhattacharya spoke, Trump appeared to fully fall asleep before catching himself. Later, answering questions about escalation in the Iran war, he sounded hoarse and fatigued. The executive order is based on right-wing conspiracy theories linking vaccines to autism, despite CDC safety assurances. The U.S. is currently experiencing a 35-year record high for measles cases.
