FinanceGrocery chain Kroger has appointed Nate Faust, a former Walmart and Jet.com executive, as its new chief e-commerce officer, effective September 1. The move, announced by new CEO Greg Foran, aims to revitalize Kroger's digital commerce business. Faust brings over 20 years of experience in building and scaling e-commerce operations, including co-founding Jet.com and leading its Smart Cart model. He also served as Walmart's senior vice president of U.S. e-commerce supply chain. Analysts suggest Faust will focus on developing Kroger's own delivery capabilities to replace third-party services like Instacart, leveraging partnerships with AI logistics platform Nash and autonomous vehicle firm Autolane. He may also integrate retail media revenue to subsidize delivery costs, similar to Amazon's model, and improve the strategic relationship with online grocery platform Ocado.
