ConflictAlleged drug kingpin Daniel Kinahan has been extradited from Dubai to Ireland, ending a decade-long international manhunt. The 49-year-old, accused of leading the Kinahan Cartel which controls about a third of Europe's cocaine supply, was arrested at Dublin Airport under heavy security and taken to the Criminal Courts of Justice. He faces charges of directing organized crime between 2015 and 2017, which he denies. Kinahan fled Ireland after a 2016 assassination attempt at the Regency Hotel that sparked a deadly feud with the rival Hutch gang. His extradition followed a 2024 treaty between Ireland and the UAE, after US sanctions and a $5 million reward were placed on him in 2022. He is now held in Portlaoise Prison, facing a potential 20-30 year sentence if convicted. His trial date has not been set.
