Chelsea signs Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria for €21 million

Chelsea has officially announced the signing of Spanish left-back Pep Chavarria from La Liga side Rayo Vallecano for a total fee of €21 million. The 28-year-old has signed a contract with Chelsea until 2031 and will begin training with the team at Cobham starting from the 2026-27 season. Chavarria expressed his excitement, calling the move a dream come true. He began his career at Figueres in the Spanish fourth division, later playing for Olot and Real Zaragoza before joining Rayo Vallecano in 2022. At Rayo, he became a regular starter, helping the club achieve two consecutive eighth-place finishes in La Liga and reach the Europa Conference League final last season, where they narrowly lost to Crystal Palace. Chavarria made 44 appearances for Rayo Vallecano last season.
