ConflictMultiple sailors aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln have attempted to go overboard as the carrier's deployment stretches into its ninth month, according to family members. Annabelle Loma said her husband tried to jump from the carrier after being repeatedly overextended and is now on medical hold, fearing a dishonorable discharge. In a separate incident, a sailor on watch intervened to stop a shipmate from going overboard. The deployment, which began November 21 and was expected to end in May, has been extended with no announced return date. Over 200 family members attended a meeting with acting Navy Secretary Hung Cao, and during a virtual meeting, Vice Adm. Joseph Cahill acknowledged the strain on sailors and families. The Navy says Lincoln's leadership is assessing psychological readiness and that support resources are available.
