EntertainmentThe U.S. Navy announced Operation Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR), a program bringing free live entertainment to 50 military installations through April 2027. The initiative aims to help service members and their families relax and build community. The series kicked off on Aug. 8, 2026, at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island with Fitz and The Tantrums and Alana Springsteen. Upcoming performances include Teddy Swims with Miranda Lambert at Naval Station Norfolk on Aug. 29, 2026; Preston James at Naval Weapons Station Crane on Sept. 11; Michael Kent at Naval Support Activity Saratoga Springs on Oct. 2; and DJ Diesel (Shaquille O'Neal) at Naval Station Great Lakes on Oct. 17. Additional shows are planned for Naval Base San Diego and Naval Air Station Panama City. Vice Adm. Scott Gray emphasized the program's role in reducing stress and strengthening support networks. Admission is free and first-come, first-served at some venues.
