OtherAlleged drug kingpin Daniel Kinahan has been extradited from Dubai to Ireland and charged with directing organised crime. The 49-year-old, believed to be the head of the Kinahan Cartel which controls about a third of Europe's cocaine supply, landed in Dublin on Sunday under heavy security. He was taken to the Criminal Courts of Justice and then to high-security Portlaoise Prison. Kinahan fled to Dubai after a 2016 assassination attempt at the Regency Hotel. His extradition followed a 2024 treaty between Ireland and the UAE, after US sanctions and a $5 million reward were placed on him in 2022. He faces 20-30 years in prison if convicted, but denies the charges. His trial date has not been set.
