PoliticsGabriel Attal, French presidential candidate and Renaissance party leader, filed a complaint on August 8, 2026, for foreign digital interference originating from Russian networks. The complaint, announced by his lawyers, follows a report to state services about a new interference operation. It denounces acts of foreign interference, information manipulation, and fabrication of fake content aimed at harming national interests and the integrity of the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Attal was alerted by the SGDSN and Viginum service about disinformation campaigns targeting him, including fake video reports, fake newspaper front pages, and false statements attributed to him and his relatives. Attal warned that the election could be rigged if no action is taken. Similar operations targeted other candidates Edouard Philippe and Raphaël Glucksmann, marking the first direct interference against presidential contenders in the campaign.
