Pentagon probe: Navy auditor general Gilmore harassed, ridiculed subordinates

A Pentagon Inspector General report found that Donjette Gilmore, auditor general of the Navy Audit Service, engaged in a pattern of harassment, ridicule, and bias against subordinates. The 42-page probe documented 23 of 27 witnesses who witnessed or experienced her behavior, including mocking employees' appearance, weight, and smell, telling single parents 'nobody told you all to have kids,' and creating a culture of fear that discouraged complaints. The report also found Gilmore showed favoritism in hiring, with 8 of 17 positions filled by African American women, often without competitive processes. Additionally, she misused her role to discredit a rival, Ronnie Booth, who had previously been found to have sexually harassed employees. The Navy recently published new guidance on command climate transparency, though officials did not confirm a link to this report.
