McDonald's appoints 26-year veteran Skye Anderson as US president

McDonald's has appointed Skye Anderson, a 26-year company veteran and former CFO of McDonald's Australia, as the new president of McDonald's USA, effective immediately. Anderson, who has been COO of McDonald's USA since April, replaces Joseph Erlinger, who led the U.S. business for seven years and stepped down on the same day. The leadership change comes as McDonald's reported disappointing Q2 results for its U.S. operations, with comparable sales growth slowing to 0.8% despite a strong start to the year. CEO Chris Kempczinski stated the company does not have a strategy problem but failed to execute at the required level in the second quarter. CFO Ian Borden noted efforts to simplify restaurant operations to improve guest traffic. Kempczinski praised Anderson as a hands-on leader and change agent with strong business judgment and operational discipline.
