Crystal Palace in advanced talks for $15m deal for Real Salt Lake wing-back Zavier Gozo

Crystal Palace are in advanced negotiations to sign 19-year-old American wing-back Zavier Gozo from Major League Soccer side Real Salt Lake. The deal is expected to be worth around $15 million (£11.1 million). Gozo, a USA under-23 international, has expressed his desire to move to Europe this summer after a breakout season with six goals and five assists in 16 games. While Palace are the frontrunners, Aston Villa and Atletico Madrid also showed interest in January. Gozo is yet to debut for the senior USMNT but is a strong candidate for a call-up this fall. Palace, now managed by Pierre Sage, see Gozo as a versatile attacking option who can play as a wing-back or forward. The club has already signed Oscar Mingueza on a free transfer this summer.
