Pentagon probe: Navy auditor general Gilmore harassed, ridiculed subordinates

A Pentagon Inspector General investigation found that Donjette Gilmore, auditor general of the Navy Audit Service, engaged in a pattern of harassment, ridicule, and bias against subordinates. The 42-page report details comments about employees' appearance, weight, and personal lives, including telling single parents 'nobody told you all to have kids.' Gilmore created a culture of fear, allegedly suppressed negative feedback from command climate surveys, and showed favoritism in hiring, with 8 of 13 positions filled by African American women without competitive processes. She also pressured a subordinate to file sexual harassment allegations to discredit a rival, Ronnie Booth, who had previously been found to have sexually harassed employees. The Navy issued new guidance on command climate transparency following the report.
