Colombia orders two Embraer KC-390 airlifters in $366.4 million deal

Colombia has signed a $366.4 million contract with Embraer to acquire two KC-390 Millennium multi-mission aircraft, strengthening its airlift and aerial refueling capabilities. The deal, signed on 4 August 2026, includes mission equipment, an integrated services and support package, and an offset program. The acquisition follows Colombia's Air and Space Development Strategy 2042, initiated in 2019. Delivery of the first aircraft is expected in 2029, with the second in 2030. The fixed-price structure is designed to protect against inflation and market fluctuations. The KC-390 can carry a 26-ton payload, reach speeds of 470 knots, and operate from unpaved runways. Embraer noted enhanced connectivity to operate with Colombia's newly acquired Gripen fighters, improving interoperability. Colombia joins Brazil, Portugal, Hungary, South Korea, and others in selecting the KC-390.
