PoliticsReform UK chairman Lee Anderson clashed with Good Morning Britain presenters Richard Madeley and Charlotte Hawkins over the party's 'Operation Fortress' plan to use the Royal Navy to intercept migrant boats in the English Channel. The French government had rejected the plan as a violation of sovereignty and international law. Anderson refused to accept the French position, arguing the policy had not been tried and would '100% save lives.' Presenters repeatedly pointed out that without French agreement the plan was unworkable. The policy has also been criticized by former Royal Navy officers as impractical and a misuse of warships.
