Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, president of the Jordanian Football Association (JFA) and former FIFA presidential candidate, publicly accused FIFA of attempting to blackmail the JFA into endorsing Gianni Infantino's reelection as FIFA president. In a post on X, Prince Ali detailed three unresolved issues where FIFA allegedly withheld assistance: visa difficulties for Jordanian fans attending the 2026 World Cup, unexpected U.S. tax liabilities for Jordan's players and staff, and unpaid prize money from the FIFA Arab Cup. He claimed a FIFA official told him during the World Cup that endorsing Infantino would help resolve these matters. Prince Ali stated Jordan refused to give in to what he called 'blackmail.' FIFA has not commented. The accusation comes amid a turbulent period for Infantino, facing opposition from confederations over a controversial plan to sell commercial rights to private investors.
