Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center in Spokane evacuated due to Spokane Complex Fire, 0% contained

The Mann-Grandstaff Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Spokane, Washington, was evacuated on Saturday due to the Spokane Complex Fire, which has destroyed at least 600 buildings and burned over 8,000 acres as of Monday. The fire, fueled by high winds, is 0% contained and has forced more than 60,000 people to evacuate. The medical center, located less than a third of a mile from the fire perimeter, remains closed with future operations to be determined. An unknown number of patients were transferred to local hospitals, and 27 patients are being cared for at area shelters. Spokane-area VA outpatient clinics and business operation centers are also closed. The facility is a 46-bed hospital with over 1,400 full-time positions.
