UEFA President Ceferin plans to push clubs to boycott 2029 Club World Cup, pressure Infantino to resign

According to talkSPORT, UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin plans to meet with European Club Association (ECA) President Nasser Al-Khelaifi during the UEFA Super Cup final on August 12. Ceferin is pushing the ECA to boycott the 2029 FIFA Club World Cup to pressure FIFA President Gianni Infantino. The 2029 tournament lacks a host, funding, format, and sponsors, and FIFA has not paid promised solidarity payments from the 2025 edition. Ceferin wants the ECA to refuse cooperation with FIFA as long as Infantino remains president. UEFA is coordinating efforts to force Infantino's resignation, with the Football Association of Wales already withdrawing support. Ceferin supports Al-Khelaifi as a potential challenger, but Al-Khelaifi reportedly has no intention of running. CONCACAF President Victor Montagliani is seriously considering a candidacy. Infantino is rallying support from associations in Asia and Africa, but faces internal divisions within FIFA. UEFA insiders also propose restructuring the FIFA presidency into a more collective leadership role.
