Michigan health officials reported the first two deaths linked to the ongoing cyclosporiasis outbreak in the state, marking the first fatalities in the nationwide outbreak. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services stated that both deceased individuals had significant underlying health conditions that may have been exacerbated by cyclosporiasis and dehydration. As of Monday, total cases in Michigan, the hardest-hit state, have reached 11,234. The CDC's latest tally as of July 27 had reported no deaths in any state. Cyclosporiasis, which causes symptoms like explosive diarrhea, gas, and nausea, is generally not life-threatening according to state officials.
