SportsUEFA has sent a formal legal action warning to FIFA President Gianni Infantino regarding the failed 'FIFA Forward Enterprise scheme' (FFE), which aimed to sell World Cup and other flagship event rights to private investors. The plan, which involved associates of Donald Trump including Joshua Kushner (brother of Jared Kushner) and Trump donor Greg Maffei, was canceled on Saturday after unprecedented opposition led by UEFA. UEFA's 55 member associations had threatened to boycott the World Cup and push for Infantino's removal. In a letter dated Friday, UEFA demands that Infantino and FIFA preserve all documents and electronically stored information related to the scheme, warning that destruction of evidence may constitute spoliation. The letter lists individuals including Infantino, Arsène Wenger, Mattias Grafström, and Kevin Lamour as likely possessing relevant materials. UEFA is actively considering legal action, arbitration, and regulatory complaints. JPMorgan Chase and OpenEconomics were also involved in seeking investors.
