Chelsea signs 35-year-old forward Danny Welbeck until 2028

Chelsea Football Club has officially announced the signing of 35-year-old forward Danny Welbeck from Premier League rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. The England international, who has 42 caps and 16 goals for the national team, has signed a contract with Chelsea until 2028. Welbeck expressed pride in joining the club, citing its title-winning history and ambition. He brings extensive top-flight experience, having made 400 Premier League appearances, played in the Champions League, and represented England at two World Cups. Welbeck began his career at Manchester United under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning the Premier League, two League Cups, the Community Shield, and the 2008 FIFA Club World Cup. He later played for Arsenal (126 appearances, 32 goals), Watford, and Brighton, where he made over 200 appearances and scored 26 league goals in the last two seasons. Welbeck will join the team managed by Xabi Alonso during pre-season.
