PoliticsThe Law Society of Singapore will seek to have Workers' Party chief Pritam Singh struck off the rolls as a lawyer during his disciplinary hearing on August 13, 2026. Singh, a non-practising lawyer and MP for Aljunied GRC, was convicted in February 2025 on two counts of lying under oath to the Committee of Privileges, related to former WP MP Raeesah Khan's 2021 parliamentary lie about a sexual assault case. He lost his High Court appeal in December 2025 and paid a S$14,000 fine. Under the Legal Profession Act, the Law Society is required to initiate disciplinary proceedings for fraud or dishonesty convictions. The Court of Three Judges, the highest disciplinary body for the legal profession, will hear the case and can impose sanctions including striking off, suspension up to five years, or a financial penalty up to S$100,000. Courts have previously ruled that striking off is the presumptive sanction for dishonesty-related misconduct.
