FinanceYum Brands, the parent company of Taco Bell, announced it is responding rapidly and transparently to a major food-safety crisis involving a cyclospora outbreak. Public-health officials have linked shredded lettuce used in some Taco Bell menu items to the rapidly expanding outbreak, described as one of the biggest food-safety incidents in Taco Bell's history. During the company's second-quarter earnings call on July 30, 2026, CEO Chris Turner stated that consumer safety is the highest priority. The company also reported that its second-quarter profit more than doubled, despite the ongoing crisis.
