Hollywood star George Clooney and his wife Amal have left their home in Brignoles, southern France, due to severe wildfires in the region. The couple confirmed the evacuation in a letter to the city's mayor, according to US magazine People, citing a spokesperson for the couple, who have been married since 2014.
"We currently have no idea if our beautiful home will survive this terrible time," the magazine Us Weekly quoted from the letter, which it said it had obtained. Amal and George promised "that – no matter what happens to our village – we will remain part of this community and will help to bring it back together." The letter added: "We love Brignoles and our friends who live there."
The Oscar winner (Syriana, Argo) and the human rights lawyer live part of the year in southern France with their nine-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella. In October 2025, Clooney stated that the couple's primary residence is the estate.
The region, like other parts of France, Spain, Italy, and Greece, is affected by severe wildfires.

Wildfires on the Atlantic Coast
On the Atlantic coast near Bordeaux, where the most massive fires of the season in France had raged over an area of 42,000 hectares, firefighters battled new flare-ups in temperatures up to 41 degrees Celsius and strong winds. The fire brigade managed to prevent the fire from spreading again with a large deployment.
- A total of 224,000 people had been evacuated in the region.
- However, 84,000 people were able to return to their homes on Thursday as the fire situation partially eased.
- As decided by the prefect of Bordeaux, Sophie Brocas, on Thursday morning, residents of nine precautionarily evacuated locations can return home.
